It’s Mardi Gras weekend in New Orleans and the parades are rolling!
On Saturday, it’s the super krewe Endymion with all their lights and triple-decker floats, awash in flying beads, cups, and everything else you can imagine that anyone could throw off a Mardi Gras float.
The traditional Italian krewe of Bacchus, the Roman God of Wine, reigns with several other krewes on Sunday. Then Monday night is Lundi Gras, and after a full day of festivals, the Mayor turns the key to the city over to both Rex, the traditional blue-blooded Mardi Gras King, and Zulu, the African-American Mardi Gras King.
Monday night is highlighted by Harry Connick Jr.’s krewe, Orpheus. Then on Mardi Gras morning, first it is Zulu with their Zulu Coconutz, and then of course, Rex and hundreds of trucks.
By the time the trucks roll, you are guaranteed to be covered in beads, throws, and novelties—if you can stay away from the warm kitchens and bars with their traditional gumbo and Mardi Gras King Cake.
We are just off The Big Easy Cruise and the Jam Cruise, which was quite different and very unusual, but wonderful—good-hearted, nice people having fun.
There we experienced the Mardi Gras of George Porter Jr. performing with Leo Nocentelli and Ivan Neville in a magnificent tribute to The Meters. George is talking with us and planning to try and make it up to the Jersey Shore this summer.
Along with him, Papa John Gros had a phenomenal tribute to Dr. John, which we would also like to bring to everyone.
Galactic showed why they are one of the greatest funk bands in the world, and everyone gets on stage to jam with everybody!
Celebrate Mardi Gras and enjoy the Olympics with the perfect midwinter libations, including an amazingly extensive array of craft beers—dark and rich beers from Bavaria, Belgium, and Ireland—along with all the imports and craft selections. You can enjoy the warmth of whiskey, single malts, Scotches, and well over 200 bourbons, including your own bourbon bottle from the barrel, exclusively at Circle Liquor Store this winter.
The winter wine sale is still happening, and those big reds from the finest regions around Milan will be featured again next week when we host the wine goddess herself, Julia Stacey Reilly, with more delicious ways to enjoy the Olympics while sipping bubbles, elegant whites from around the Alps near Cortina, and those bold reds.
This week on the radio show, we will celebrate the summertime as we announce the return of the most famous rock star alive who played at Tony Mart’s in Somers Point.
After an incredibly strong performance with the Tony Mart All-Stars last September, Mitch Ryder will return to perform a dozen of his famous hits, including the iconic “Devil with the Blue Dress,” often listed as one of the 100 most popular and important rock ’n’ roll songs in history. Mitch is being honored in the 60th anniversary documentary of the last performance of Otis Redding and the Bar-Kays, on which he performed.
It is sensational to think that he is 80 years young and looking forward to coming to play on the beach in Somers Point and on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
We are excited that he will take time from his European tour to celebrate with us and give us insight into the life of one of our greatest living legacies of rock ’n’ roll—beloved by both the fans and so many musicians, including Bruce Springsteen, who performs Mitch Ryder’s music at almost every show.
What an honor to have the last of the superstars of the Tony Mart legacy as part of our 2026 celebration.
Mitch will take time from his European schedule to interview live in anticipation of the good times at the shore this summer and announce the release of his new album, “Songs from the Road.”
Ironically, the anniversary of Otis Redding’s last performance—which happened to be with Mitch Ryder—will be further celebrated as the man who co-produced and performed many of Otis Redding’s greatest songs, Booker T. Jones of Booker T. & the M.G.’s, will follow Mitch Ryder and perform one of the biggest concerts in the history of Tony Mart Presents Mardi Gras on the Boardwalk this August 19, 2026.
Booker T. Jones is an absolute icon in the history of Memphis rock ’n’ soul.
From the streets of New Orleans, where the Mardi Gras parades are rolling, to the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, where the good times will roll, we bring you warm wishes and remind you to celebrate Presidents’ Day weekend warmly with each other.
It’s still always about family and friends in the greatest country in the world.
Let the good times roll!
