In the heart of the fabulous summer at the Jersey Shore, Tony Marts and The Point Tiki Bar Tropical Nightclub will present Jersey Gumbo Cook Off & Louisiana Music Festival starting at 3pm Monday July 21st at 998 Bay Avenue on the beautiful and historic bayfront in Somers Point.
It is a FREE concert event with free parking and some of the finest chefs in New Jersey cooking up their most bewitching gumbo with unlimited samplings from 3-6pm.
Everyone who pays $20 for all you care to sample will also get to vote for the 2025 King Gumbo Chef.
The 2024 King Gumbo Chef is the great executive chef from Resorts Casino Hotel, Robert Levenson, whose gumbo was an absolute culinary treat with Jersey fresh corn crème fraiche that titillated the taste buds in a way that reminded us of the greatest haute creole restaurant in the world, Commanders Palace.
The People’s Choice Award went to both Gallowy’s Chef Niko Karamanos, whose exotic flavoring was accented by freshly seared tuna on top of every tasting. Chef Dan Luber amazed with his rich and diversely flavored gumbo after revealing that it was the first time he ever made gumbo!
Chef Joseph Sheridan from Atlantic Cape Community College was a close contender with another excellent and tantalizing gumbo and from the fabulous Inn at Smithville, Chef Philip Gormley surprised everyone with a fried shrimp on top of each and every offering!
There will be a full program of music entitled “Fiddle, Guitars & Squeeze Box” featuring violin virtuoso, Heather ‘Lil Mama’ Hardy and her band with several Allstars, including our Jersey shore “Rock and Soul Guitar Hero” Billy Walton, everybody’s favorite Danny Eyer, and several exciting guest stars to be announced.
The music will begin at 3:30pm with The Danny Eyer Band and then roll with Louisiana traditional right into the funky R&B of New Orleans and classic rock n’ roll and party music featuring all the guest stars!
There is no better way to spend a Monday afternoon in July then on the bay eating gumbo and partying with ‘Lil Mama’ and the vibes of Louisiana and the Jersey shore. THIS IS HOW WE LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!!
