Helen Warrilow: It was around 1970 and my husband Larry Warrilow joined a
band based out of D.C. called Korrection. Larry and I were
from South Florida. I joined them in N.J. when they were doing their
first gig as a touring band at Tony Mart's. Larry was the guitarist. We actually
stayed in the apt upstairs at Tony's. Tony Mart's was magical! Just a huge
beautiful place that was vibrant with music and cool people. Great either
bands started there or played there. They treated us like gold too. We never
had any problems. Management and staff were awesome. I just discovered this site
while trying to go back memory lane and I'm super happy to have come across it
and read the stories.
It was the summer of 78 and I was staying on Ocean City on break from college in PA. I
walked into Tony Marts and was blown away by the Jersey Shore sound! The horns and the crowd
were amazing. Music was never the same after that! Thank you for exposing me to something new and wonderful.

Hello, I played with my band members- Us & Company- at Tony Marts in 1966. The
group "The Band" had just finished a week of playing there and since they were hard partiers, we
cleaned up the mess they left in the apartment, before our group stayed there for a week and played there
as well. When we were setting up the equipment, Tony was very personable and it was important to him to get
to know the musicians. He liked people who were respectable as well as talented. One of Tony's rules was that
he didn't want any underground music for his club at the time and said he wanted Beatles music. So we played
a lot of Beatles songs. The club was always packed and every night was an exciting experience with people who
just wanted to have fun, dance, drink and party. Us & Company played 1200 performances in many states, but
Tony Marts will always be special to us. - Denny Buono, drummer and singer for Us & Company
